Garden Update

I thought i'd give you all a mid summer garden update :) Everything seems to be growing well, even if it did take 2 days of my mother in law and i weeding to find it. With moving and just being so busy and then some realy hot weather, the weeds kind of took over.
As you can see there's still a bit of weeding left to do, but it's shaping up to be a nice looking garden :) From left to right in this picture there are tomatoes, 2 rows of carrots, beets, lettuce, and cucumbers; then in the back same direction broccoli, 2 rows of potatoes, and 2 rows of green beens.

I started this broccoli in side this spring so we'd have some early to eat. We picked most of this one right after the picture was taken and ate it for supper! YUM! I dont think growing up that i ever realy appreciated all the fresh veggies we got to eat out of my parents garden. It was just something normal. Now that I'm grown and do the garden from start to finish along with my hubby, i can realy appreciate the food that comes out! Not to mention that its so much better than store bought. I also love the excitement my children get out of seeing the baby plants and getting to pick the ones that are ready!
Some baby cucumbers! Can't wate till they are ready!! We've had lettuce coming out of our ears this year! You can see some of the leaves in this picture. Lots of salad made with the lettuce and baby beet greens!

Settling In

We're getting settled in here and starting to figure out a new sort of rhythem to things.
This [the livingroom] i think is my favorite room so far; I think because it has a distinct feminine feel. :) For me its a nice place to sit and have a bit of quiet after the boys have gone to bed :)

With so many boys around me and masculine things outside, its nice to have the inside of the house stay a bit girly for me.

weekend fun!

Daddy made the boys a sandbox this weekend!
Now thats how to fill up a sandbox! ;)
We had hours and hours of fun in the sandbox over the weekend and i'm sure we'll continue having fun over the rest of the summer out here! Its nice and close to the garden so i can be out there without worring about where the boys are.
We also took the boys fishing Sunday evening, but silly me forgot to bring the camera. We all had fun, and all the boys had to do was drop the worm and hook into the water for a second and they would reel in a fish! Daddy even cought a nice bass :) (not big enough to keep though, only 12 inch. )

This and That

happy late 4th!

We've been crazy busy this month! Here's a few pictures to show you a little of what we've been up to! :)
Picking cherries off our tree!...and turning them into pie! mmm! I also froze some for making jam later on.

We got peaches today off the peach truck! yummie!
We also got our house listed, so we've been busy cleaning there and getting that all set. I had to take a picture of the boys by the tree in their old bedroom :) i used it to measure them on their birthdays so i had to wright down how tall they were at what ages so i can transfer those numbers here.

(sorry its on its side, not sure how to turn it)

a new begining

I don't realy have any pictures to share this time, but i thought i would at least take the time to update you all!
We moved last sunday! Its been a realy busy few weeks, leading up to the move and now the week after; so we are all tired out, but realy glad to finaly have the move behind us. Saying goodbye to the old house was a bit harder than I anticipated (but that may be because i'm almost 30 weeks pregnant and emotional ;) ). Slowly things are getting settled here at the farm, though its hard to unpack and get settled in when you are trying to keep up with 2 very active boys, keep up with the every day tasks, and put up hay! All four of us are glad to be here (in the words of Gus "I'm so glad we live at the farm"). Its such a blessing to be able to be so close to family again, for hubby not to have to drive in and back every night, and for us to be able to wach him from the window or yard or even go just out the door and tell him supper or lunch is ready! There's work left to do and always will be most likely, but we're getting there!
